Remote Administrative Assistant

 As a remote company, The Affirmative Couch is well situated for physical distancing, however all employees must reside in the state of California. We don’t have an office; all of our authors, presenters, and staff work from wherever they have Wi-Fi and a computer, phone, and tablet. 


This position requires a demonstration of our core values through a variety of responsibilities. Not all these responsibilities will be required every week, but over the course of the position the virtual assistant will be expected to:

– Respond to customer phone calls and emails related to technical support requests,  frequently asked questions, and other requests. 

– Organize ongoing projects through Asana project management software by tracking progress of projects, and follow up with uncompleted tasks to ensure timely completion. Projects may include CE Certificate administration, ongoing online marketing tasks, and course production. 

– Manage a variety of records including meeting agendas, sales and marketing reports,  CE certificate administration, attendance reports, and other data related to American Psychological Association accreditation. 

-Support ongoing projects to improve internal work flow systems in Google Docs, Asana, and MailChimp. 

– Improve customer loyalty by tracking customer completion of course materials, collecting testimonials, and  identifying customers that can be celebrated in our marketing materials

– Update and maintain office policies and procedures.

-Maintain required training and compliance related to California state laws. 

 – Communicate and coordinate with team as necessary

– Other duties as assigned

 Required Experience:

– 2-3 years’ experience as administrative assistant or customer service representative, or in related field

 Required Skills:

– Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, and WordPress

– Excellent written and verbal communication skills

– Superior customer service skills 

– Excellent problem solving skills

– Strong organization and project management skills including attention to detail.

– Passion about mental health in LGBTQIA+, consensually non-monogamous, and kinky communities

– Dedication to anti-racism, anti-homo/bi/transphobia, and anti-oppression work

– Must be independent worker with lots of self-motivation

– Friendly, personable, and fun to work with 

Preferred Education:

– Bachelor’s degree

 Preferred Experience:

– Familiarity with utilizing Asana project management software

– Familiarity with MailChimp, SurveyMonkey,  and Motion Mail 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

– Part-time, up to 10 hours per week


– None; this is a remote position

 Reports to:

– Chief Operating Officer

 Compensation & Benefits:

– $20/hour during 6-month probationary training period

-$22.25/hour upon successful completion of probationary period

-401(k) with 100% of contributions on the first 3% deferred, then 50% of contributions from 3% to 5%

– Sick time accrued at a rate of 1 hour earned per 30 hours worked.
