Continuing Education in Maryland

Psychologist (PhD/PsyD):

1. Do CEs from the Affirmative Couch count for my state and license?

Yes.

The Affirmative Couch, LLC is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Affirmative Couch, LLC maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

2. How many CEs are required by my state?

A minimum of forty (40) hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years including three (3) hours of ethics and three (3) hours of cultural competence. If psychologist supervises psychology associates, a minimum of three (3) CE hours related to clinical supervision is required.

3. How many CEs can be taken online by my state?

A maximum of twenty (20) CE hours of independent study, including online coursework.

MFT:

1. Do CEs from the Affirmative Couch count for my state and license?

No. All CEs for Marriage and Family Therapists in Maryland need to be from an NBCC or NAADAC provider. The Affirmative Couch, LLC is not a NBCC or NAADAC provider at this time, but hopes to be in the future.

Social Workers:

1. Do CEs from the Affirmative Couch count for my state and license?

Yes. The board accepts APA and ASWB CE
