What does affirmative psychotherapy mean to me?

As a therapist, I believe appropriate therapy always affirms the client’s perceptions of themselves, the validity of their lived experiences, and works toward integrating all aspects of the self into a cohesive, joyful whole.

What populations do I work with? What is my level of expertise (friendly, knowledgeable, expert) for each of those populations?

My expertise encompasses all manner of diverse genders, sexual orientations and relationship styles, including polyamory and BDSM. I am knowledgeable about human sexuality and an expert in healing from trauma or PTSD. My training includes certification in EMDR.

What is my approach to healing?

My clients experience being seen as an equal, as a complete human being with a unique and important history. Through our work together, we identify what hurts, what could be better, and the gaps in their understanding of themselves. I educate and empower my clients to face the pain and work through it, so they can find the wholeness and sense of self that they crave. When I work with relationships, I focus on identifying how conflict plays out, where communication breaks down, and what kind of relationship agreements and changed behavior will breathe life back into their intimacy.

What issues am I most skilled at addressing as a mental health professional?

I love working at the intersection of sex, gender, trauma and relationships. All of these aspects overlap and influence each other, impacting many parts of your life.
