Abstract
This course is designed to provide clinical guidance for healthcare professionals assisting transgender and gender diverse people to achieve better health and psychological well being, The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) published the Standards of Care 8 (SOC-8) in Fall 2022. It includes major changes from previous editions, including differentiating between clinical work with transgender and nonbinary ( TGNB) adolescents and children. This workshop will cover WPATH SOC-8 guidelines specific to mental health services forTGNB teenagers. We will discuss developmentally appropriate assessment of gender incongruence and how psychotherapists can help TGNB adolescents navigate social or hormonal transition. The discussion will include vignettes to help participants learn how to apply the guidelines to complex cases and explore ways to use the WPATH guidelines as a way to advocate for affirmative health and mental health care for TGNB teenagers.

- Describe two ways a mental health professional can participate in social or hormonal interventions in clinical work with TBNG teens.
- Utilize the WPATH SOC 8 guidelines to advocate for services for TGNB teenagers.
